Curbar & Froggatt Edges, Derbyshire - 27 October 2005

Martin organised this walk and also some perfect weather (the warmest October day since records beagn...) Fifteen members enjoyed a splendid new walk taking in the Derbyshire Edges with stunning views.

John Spencer and Martin tried out the walk and made a few minor alterations to ensure the start and finish were on the same day.

Details of the walk are as follows:

START POINT: Eyre Arms, Calver, Nr Baslow, Derbyshire, S32 3XH
Tel: 01433 630473

DIRECTIONS:
If using the A619 from Chesterfield proceed through Baslow and at the roundabout (just after the Cavendish Hotel) take right turn on to the A623 to Caiver. If coming on the A6 from Matlock take the B6012 through Chatsworth Park to the self same roundabout and take a left turn to Caiver. Continue on for approx. 2 miles past Cliff College on the right to a crossroads with traffic lights. Turn right at the crossroads then the Eyre Arms is immediately on the right. There is ample car parking at the pub.

WALK:
The walk is just over 6 miles starting from Caiver then a fairly long steady climb (some bottom gear work!!) via Curbar village to Curbar Edge. It's then flat walking along Curbar and Froggatt Edges taking in the great views on route. We then return to the Eyre Arms via the Derwent Valley Heritage Way.
