Martin organised this walk and also some perfect weather (the warmest
October day since records beagn...) Fifteen members enjoyed a splendid
new walk taking in the Derbyshire Edges with stunning views.
John Spencer and Martin tried out the walk and made a few minor
alterations to ensure the start and finish were on the same day.
Details of the walk are as follows:
START POINT: Eyre Arms, Calver, Nr Baslow, Derbyshire,
S32 3XH

DIRECTIONS:
If using the A619 from Chesterfield proceed through Baslow and at
the roundabout (just after the Cavendish Hotel) take right turn
on to the A623 to Caiver. If coming on the A6 from Matlock take
the B6012 through Chatsworth Park to the self same roundabout and
take a left turn to Caiver. Continue on for approx. 2 miles past
Cliff College on the right to a crossroads with traffic lights.
Turn right at the crossroads then the Eyre Arms is immediately on
the right. There is ample car parking at the pub.
WALK:
The walk is just over 6 miles starting from Caiver then a fairly
long steady climb (some bottom gear work!!) via Curbar village to
Curbar Edge. It's then flat walking along Curbar and Froggatt Edges
taking in the great views on route. We then return to the Eyre Arms
via the Derwent Valley Heritage Way.
