“Gentlemen, we really would be ‘Emgaspers’ if we were walking today as temperatures hit the mid 90’s … hopefully it will be somewhat cooler in August!!! as we go on our 5 mile walk on the edge of the moors taking in the ancient village of Old Brampton and Linacre Reservoirs.”
This was Martin’s introduction to the walk which we previously did in August 2006. We can’t promise similar temperatures, but we can offer splendid views, good company, fine ales and excellent food.
Details of the walk are as follows:
START POINT: Royal Oak Inn, Hollins (Nr. Old Brampton) Chesterfield S42 7JH
Tel: 01246 568092.
TIME: 10.00am assemble for tea/coffee at the Royal Oak with walk to start at 10.30am.
DIRECTIONS: Coming from Chesterfield - take the A619 to Baslow. Take a signed right turn to Wadshelf village. Go through village on School Lane until you come to a T junction (Wigley village school on your left). Turn right and the Royal Oak is approx ¼ mile on your left. See map attached/enclosed.
WALK: This is an easy going 5 miles on bridleways and footpaths taking in the ancient village of Old Brampton and around the three scenic Linacre Reservoirs. The walk enjoys good views with only a couple of gradual ascents.
We aim to be back at the Royal Oak just after 12.30 pm with lunch booked for 1.00 pm. There is a wide choice of quality food with good portions at reasonable prices.
Can you please let me know, if you haven’t already done so, whether you will be attending by no later than Monday 20th February.
George
