We shall be meeting at the Horse & Groom, Moorgreen, at the usual time of 10.00 am for a 10.30 start.
The walk is about 5 miles long over pretty good surfaces, no turnstiles, one or two slight upward inclines and is a variation on the last walk we did around this area.
The best way to get there is via the M1, leaving at Junction 26. Go towards Nottingham (A610) on a short section of dual carriageway, getting into the nearside lane and turning left at the first island to go along the B600, signposted Kimberley and Alfreton. Just after going under the M1 turn right along the B600 towards Alfreton. As you turn you will see a large pub - The Three Ponds - on your left hand side. This will take you through the village of Watnall, but be very careful along this stretch of road as there are two 30 mph cameras. After Watnall you will arrive at a mini-island (signposted Hucknall to the right) but keep straight on the B600 towards Alfreton. After a couple of miles or so, you will enter Moorgreen. As soon as you see the Moorgreen signs, signal a right turn and turn towards Beauvale Priory along a narrow lane with the pub car park 30 yards along on your left hand side. I know I’m being precise but you have to turn just before a busy intersection with cars coming round a blind corner in front of you. Could you please park at the top end of the car park?
The pub address is The Horse & Groom, Moorgreen, Newthorpe, Nottingham, NG16 2FE and the Phone No. is 0177 371 3417
