Ockbrook South Derbyshire Thursday 29 February 2024 |
I can confirm that our next walk, the first of this New Year, will be around Ockbrook in South Derbyshire. Similar to one we have done before albeit shorter and a good central location for everyone to get to. See previous Ockbrook walk (5 Sept 2018) Details of the walk are as follows: START POINT: The Royal Oak, 5 Green Lane, Ockbrook, Derbyshire DE72 3SE (01332 662378) Website: royaloakockbrook.com DIRECTIONS TO THE ROYAL OAK: Ockbrook is located just off the A52, half way between Derby and Junction 25 of the M1. When you leave the A52, head through the village, turning left at the T junction towards Ilkeston on Bare Lane which becomes Green Lane. The pub (the second one along) is just over the brow of the hill set back behind a large car park. A shortened walk, from our last excursion to Ockbrook. It has been explored in detail last Thursday by myself, Tony G and our good ladies (one of course is typing this out). It is just over three miles one gentle slope, three stiles and a couple of muddy spots - we recommend good walking boots rather than shoes. The pub served excellent food and is a CAMRA winner for its Ales. Click left for an aerial view of the route. The muddy bits are shown in green and yellow.
