Blidworth Woods and Papplewick Thursday 2 May 2024 |
Here’s hoping you’ve all recovered from Trench Foot incurred on our last walk. We are now venturing forth again - this time just north of Nottingham. Bob Beech has kindly organised our walk near Blidworth, Nottinghamshire. It will include Blidworth Woods and will incorporate a visit to Papplewick Pumping Station – a bit of Industrial Archeology! Details of the walk are as follows: START POINT: Fox and Hounds, Calverton Road, Blidworth Bottoms, Nottinghamshire We’ve been asked to park in the bottom car park on the right. TIME: 10.00am as usual assemble for tea/coffee at The Fox and Hounds, walk to commence at 10.30am. DIRECTIONS TO THE FOX AND HOUNDS. There are a number of options depending on your start point. Blidworth Bottoms is near Ravenshead some 7 miles north of Nottingham off either the A60 or A614. Suggest you let the Sat Nav do the work. The postcode for the pub is given above. WALK: The walk is just over 3 miles. The going, I’m assured by Bob, will be flat and easy going through Blidworth Woods and picking up the historic Papplewick Pumping Station. |
